Mark your calendars for the next Regional Rural Community Asset Building Forum presented by RAISE Texas, the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, and Texas Rural Innovators, with support from local partners including the Jacksboro Chamber of Commerce and EDC. The forum will be held on April 21, 2011 from 9:30am- 3:30pm at Cowboy Christian Missions (2381 Hwy 380 West) in Jacksboro, Texas. Participants will learn about programs that will help their organizations and communities to assist working families that struggle with finances. Programs include: financial education, free tax preparation, matched savings accounts and post-secondary education. This event is FREE and lunch will be provided. Registration opens soon!

As part of National Consumer Protection Week, the Community Development Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas is hosting a breakfast presentation, Helping Consumers Manage Their Credit Scores, on March 11, 2011 at 8:00am.  Special guest speaker, Rachel Bell, senior director of Global Scoring Solutions at FICO, the leading provider of credit scores in the U.S., will provide information about FICO scores.  For more information or to register, click here.

2011 Policy Update

The Texas Legislature is in session! Bills are being filed, committees are holding public hearings, and this is a great opportunity for us to raise and expand support on our important asset-building issues. Funding Opportunities and Other Resources

The Assets for Independence (AFI) Program, the largest source of Federal funding for IDA projects, is now accepting Individual Development Account (IDA) grant applications! AFI grant applications are due Thursday, March 31, 2011 and Wednesday, May 25, 2011. Click here for more information about AFI grants or to register for one of the informational webinars.
